Gold - Gold is the best
Given all the uncertainty in the stock markets currently (Locally in the sensex, as well as globally) - equities are not the best of investment opportunities - at least now.
In spite of the carnage recently (as of writing this, the Sensex stands at 16K), the P/E multiples are still expensive compared to emerging economies and it implies that the markets need to go down still compared to where it stands today to be more valuable.
So what are the options that are available now ?
There is not a better time to consider Gold as an investment.
Gold BeES represents one of the best safest ways of owning the shining metal for now.
The trailing 3-month return as of 13/3/2008 is 28.04 % .
Not bad when times are bad.
